Needham Acts - Mentors and Coaches

Training for youth coaches, youth leaders and mentors

Training is available for all coaches, mentors, and youth leaders to help you recognize youth who are at risk and intervene if necessary. This training is known as the Question, Persuade, and Refer or QPR Training. Currently, the Needham Public Schools has trained all of the high school and middle school teachers in this model. Tom Denton, the Director of Guidance for the Needham Public Schools is a certified QPR trainer and is responsible for training in the schools. Jon Mattleman, Director of the Youth Commission and Denise Garlick, Chairperson of the Needham Health Department, are certified QPR trainers who are responsible for providing training for Needham groups outside of the school system.
